Working Holiday Visa

Canada has created a program dedicated to facilitating the working holiday visa application process – The International Experience Canada (IEC) Program.

A Canadian Working Holiday Visa or permit allows a non-Canadian citizen or permanent resident to take a working holiday in Canada for up to two years.

  • Working Holiday Visa – allows you to work for any Canadian employer anywhere in Canada.
  • Young Professionals Visa – allows you to work for a specific employer in a job that will contribute to career growth.
  • International Co-op (Internship) Visa – allows you to participate in an internship or work placement program or fulfill a job offer in Canada. You must be a post-secondary student.

Working Holiday Visa Requirements

To be considered eligible for a Canadian Working Holiday Visa, you must:

  • Be aged 18 – 35 years,
  • Be a citizen of 1 of 35 participating countries,
  • Be admissible to Canada.
  • Have health insurance,
  • Have a valid Canadian job offer (if applicable), and
  • Have sufficient funds ( at least $2,500) and return flight/fare.

Please Note: Each IEC program has different eligibility requirements. (Be sure to check your application requirements based on your nationality)

How to Apply

All applications for Canadian Working Holiday Visas are made online unless deemed eligible to apply on paper, such as if you have a disability.

Step 1: Create an IEC account and complete the Come To Canada questionnaire.

Step 2: Gather supporting documentation - you may need documents like your passport, education qualifications, resume and work experience documentation to complete the application form.

Step 3: Receive an invitation to apply for your work permit.

Step 4: Complete and submit your application for your working holiday in Canada - you’ll need to upload your supporting documentation along with your application.

Step 5: Receive a port of entry letter of introduction - this is not your work permit, nor does it guarantee one. You will need to submit this at the port of entry and will then receive your Canadian work permit.

Put your Canadian future in the hands of immigration professionals you can trust.
